Crew: Julie (comedy mother), Rob (), Ali (‘pink something or other’), Jon (long stuff)
26th: Arrived at the boat in the evening. Had dinner on the boat before Julie and Rob went off to an exciting meeting. Al and Jon washed up, filled the water tank and took the dogs for a walk.
27th: Set off at about 8.10am (Al was ready to go!!). Jon motored out of the marina (good lad). Al and Julie had a fight over the ‘swingy’ windlass, but alas, as they approached the swing bridge at Woolhampton swing bridge they found another one. Also, Al and Julie performed a clever, well thought out dance routine with the swingy windlasses! We had lunch at Greenham where Julie said “anyone want a banana?....or a potato?!!” Oh the chortling. Later we discovered she meant chocolate bars! An obvious mistake. A clever engine man called Paul came on board to check out the engine mounts and have a cuppa. We also encountered a sarcastic fisherman-how rude. After buying a coolie hat (some kind of Jamaican head dress) at Greenham services we motored on to West Mills, Newbury.
28th: Set off from West Mills aiming to get to Hungerford. Stopped at Kintbury for lunch and to get rid of some rubbish. ‘Fished’ with the magnet, Al found a screwdriver...
