... And an interesting iron bar!! Lovely run to Hungerford, moored at the Wharf and went into town. Looked around interesting shops and bought a red two cup teapot, and also a brass towel rail (which Rob fitted immediately). He also made a delicious stew and dumplings for dinner. Then we played ‘Colonial Williamsbourg’, a riveting ‘bored’ game which Jon won. Rob pretended to sing along with the music, and used the lighter as a mic, and lit it much to Julie’s horror. Much hilarity!! I think you had to be there.
29th: After an emergency visit to the supermarket to get dog food we set off back towards Newbury. At Copse Lock we found a swing (pictured), and Tui swam properly for the first time. Another good day and moored up at a quiet spot between Ham Lock and Bull’s lock for the night. During the day we also magnet ‘fished’ out a spanner, another windlass, and some scaffold.
30th: Clocks changed today so extra hour in bed. Very wet day with torrential rain at times. Luckily it seemed to be at its’ worst while we were having our Sunday roast- nice and snug by the stove. Back to the marina by about 15.30. Great few days.
